BRANDON - At 6 a.m. sharp the doors fly open at Goodwill's annual wedding gala, but savvy brides-to-be arrived about 4 a.m.

The wait is the price many brides are willing to pay to say "I do" in a gown marked down as much as 80 percent.

Goodwill's Say I Do event today at the Brandon Goodwill Superstore featured more than 250 wedding gowns including famous brand designs from the likes of Oleg Cassini, Christina Wu, Alfred Angelo and Mon Cheri.

Before the doors opened, there were about 100 women waiting to get into the store. By the time the sale got under way, the line had started to snake around the building.

But brides didn't make a run for it at this sale. Everything was done in an orderly fashion, with groups of 15 to 20 shoppers let into the store at a time.

"I couldn't sleep last night waiting for this," said bride-to-be Monica White, 26, of Riverview, who was looking for a strapless beaded gown with a long train.

Two hours into the event, she had yet to find her dream dress.

"I'm discouraged," she said. "But there are still dresses I haven't looked at."
