Tampa Bay lost another corporate headquarters today when shareholders of St. Petersburg- and London-based Danka Business Systems PLC voted to approve a $240 million sale of the office equipment and services company to Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA of Ramsey, N.J.
The proposed sale was announced in April.
Danka, which got its start locally in 1977, saw its financial fortunes begin to plummet after a $588 million acquisition of an Eastman Kodak Co. copier division in 1996 and subsequent difficulties blending the corporate cultures and technological infrastructures.
The company employs about 2,000 employees, according to the company Web site, including several hundred at the St. Petersburg headquarters.
Konica Minolta previously said the operation would remain in business.
