ZEPHYRHILLS - Fun and safety will be the dual focus of a free community celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Goin' Postal Franchise headquarters, 4941 Fourth St., on the east side of Zephyr Park, next to Zephyr Haven Nursing Center.
"This is the first time we've hosted this event, and we're so excited that so many people are embracing it," said M.J. Price, president of Goin' Postal Franchise Corp.
The event will feature community-service exhibits, including free fingerprinting and child identifications, courtesy of the Zephyrhills Police Department; the display of a Zephyrhills Fire Department fire engine; free car seat inspections, also courtesy of the fire department; a free family fitness class featuring yoga, tai chi, Qigong and belly dancing; free blood pressure and glucose screenings by Florida Hospital Zephyrhills; a free family-friendly self-defense and a family fitness seminar; team and trust-building activities; and low-cost pet vaccinations, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fun will come in the form of a giant safety jigsaw puzzle; a limbo contest; a chalk art play area; a bouncy castle; musical entertainment by Ashley Shannon; free shoulder and neck massages by Meridian Acupuncture Center; free photo opportunities every hour, free musical entertainment, courtesy of students of the Dean Johnson Music Studio; and free face painting by local artist Anna Brice Alexander.
Information about topics such as sudden infant death syndrome and the Back To Sleep Campaign, www.DontShakeYourBaby.com, the Polly Klaas Foundation, smoking cessation, Baby Safe Haven locations; and good nutrition will be offered at the celebration. There also will be presentations by groups such as the Zephyrhills Historical Society, Lady Shriners, the Zephyrhills Coin Collectors Club, Zephyrhills Public Library, The Depot Museum, Gulf Coast College, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, the Zephyrhills Pregnancy Care Center, Stay Well Miguel, Sunrise of Pasco and the Pasco County Health Department.
Refreshments also will be available, with hot dogs and soft drinks for sale.
Guests are encouraged to park in the municipal lots near Waterplay, Alice Hall or on the south side of the park.
