Unlicensed Dental Lab Tech In Sun City Center Charged

TAMPA – A man working as a dental lab technician in Sun City Center has been arrested and charged with the unlicensed practice of a health care profession, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Hermie Agra, 55, of Land O Lakes was arrested Thursday following a joint investigation by the Health Department's Tampa Unlicensed Activity Unit and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Health Department, Agra, an unlicensed dental lab technician working at Froug Sun City Dental office, provided dental services to a patient in 2007 without having a work order from a dentist. Agra allegedly removed a patient's upper denture, took an impression, and then provided him with a reline for his upper denture. Agra was not working under the direction or supervision of a licensed dentist.

Agra was arrested and charged after he voluntarily turned himself in to Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He was released on $2,000 bail.
