Crime Stoppers has increased the reward for information leading to a conviction in the shooting death of a Davenport convenience store clerk.
Jashavantal K. Patel, 54, was killed the morning of June 20 during what Polk County investigators say was a robbery attempt at the Citgo station where he worked.
The reward now is $15,000, up from $5,000.
At Patel's funeral service Thursday, his nephew, Jigar Patel, said the family was in shock.
"We're just praying the shooter gets caught as soon as possible," Jigar Patel said. "He don't need to be out there on the loose."
Detectives say the shooter was black, about 6 feet tall and was wearing a light-colored hoodie-type shirt, knee-length jean shorts and black sneakers.
His face was covered with a blue bandanna.
Authorities are particularly interested in talking to the owner of a dark-colored, possibly maroon, sedan seen going south on North Suwannee Avenue shortly after the shooting, which happened at 9:30 a.m.
Deputies think the driver might have seen the shooter.
Anyone with information should call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
