DADE CITY - Police say they solved two crimes Friday when a man already in jail on an armed robbery charge confessed to burglarizing two homes earlier this month.
Robert Anthony Silva, 19, was arrested by Dade City police this week on a Zephyrhills warrant charging him with armed robbery, arrest records show.
Silva, no known address, is accused of using a handgun to rob the 7-Eleven store at 38544 Fifth Ave., Zephyrhills, on Nov. 20.
Friday afternoon, Dade City police detective Joseph G. Conrad learned that Silva was the driver of a stolen 2002 Chrysler Concorde that a Pasco Sheriff's Office deputy tried to pull over last week, according to police reports.
In that instance, the driver crashed the car and ran off, police reported.
Silva reportedly also admitted stealing the car during a June 11 burglary of a home at 36050 White Fir Way, according to an arrest report.
The house had been ransacked and, in addition to the car, a laptop computer, two digital cameras, a video camera, food and other items were taken, Conrad wrote in the arrest report.
Also, Silva admitted to a June 7 burglary in which jewelry, video games, a video game unit, cellular telephones and other property were taken from a home at 13326 Lee St., a second arrest report states.
Silva remained at the Land O' Lakes Jail today with bail set at $75,000 on the armed robbery charge and on two new charges each of burglary and grand theft and a sixth charge of car theft, according to computerized jail records.
