After all the hand-wringing and worrying about oil, the American people have already found their own solution. Train ridership is up, small car sales and scooters are through the roof, and for the first time since 1974 the use of oil has declined. All this flailing about to find new sources of oil or punish oil speculators only muddies the waters of our need to change our ways. Any new sources of oil will only be temporary and further delay our eventual inevitable change to an alternative.
The use of alternatives, wind, solar, tidal, geothermal, and yes, even nuclear can allow us to convert to an electric society. Industry, trains, homes, and cars can run on this miracle energy that can come from many sources. It only takes a willingness of the people to do so, and I believe we have shown we can do it.
