Man And Child Injured In Wreck On State Road 589

TAMPA - An adult and a 10-year-old were seriously injured tonight after the vehicle they were in overturned then struck a guardrail on State Road 589 south of Gunn Highway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The 38-year-old driver was listed in critical condition and the child in serious condition. Both were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. Their names were not released by the highway patrol because relatives have not been notified.
The driver of the 1998 Ford was traveling south on S.R. 589 and lost control while approaching a curve in the road, the highway patrol said. The car went into the median, overturned, then collided with a guardrail. The vehicle landed on its roof.
