TAMPA A motorcyclist traveling at a high rate of speed on Interstate 75 north of Fletcher Avenue, slammed into the rear of a sport-utility-vehicle, flinging himself into the rear window Saturday night.
The 26-year-old biker was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he was pronounced dead early this morning.
The occupants of the Toyota SUV, Robert E. Hudson Jr., who was driving, and Angela Delgado, 29, both of Lutz were not injured. Delgado is a reporter with The Tampa Tribune.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said the biker, identified as Arius E. Fayson of Tampa, was speeding northbound on his 2007 Honda motorcycle shortly before 11 p.m. when he squeezed between two vehicles in the two-lane highway and hit the back of the SUV.
The victim and his motorcycle had to be cut out of the rear of the vehicle, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at Tampa General at 2:30 a.m. troopers said.
