A 16-year-old boy died and several other teenagers were injured early Monday, when their vehicle hit a utility pole on U.S. 92 near Robin Kristin Drive in Plant City, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Enrique Cruz of Plant City was riding in a 1995 Toyota Camry about 12:40 a.m., when he died, troopers said. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to troopers.
Driver Yuri Montano, 18, of Plant City was eastbound when the Camry traveled off the roadway and struck a utility pole on the south shoulder, then overturned, troopers said.
The highway patrol said Montano and the following passengers were treated at Lakeland Regional Medical Center after the crash: Giovannie Febres, 17; Alejandro Febres, 16; Dazarae Stewart, age unknown; and Taylor R. Meyer, age unknown, all of Plant City.
