TAMPA - After refusing to stop when a Hillsborough County deputy tried pulling him over Sunday night, a Tampa man drove miles from the scene, got out of his vehicle and hid in a shed, deputies say.
The incident began when a confidential informant's tip led deputies to believe a Red Honda sport utility vehicle containing cocaine would be heading near Highway 60 and Orient Road. A deputy saw the Honda and tried pulling it over about 10:36 p.m.
The Honda, driven by Timothy Dale Washington, failed to stop, a criminal arrest affidavit states. Washington ran from the vehicle.
Deputies found baggies of crack cocaine and powder cocaine on the floorboard in front of the driver's seat, according to the affidavit. Washington, 24, entered a shed attached to a home at 1709 Darlington Drive in Tampa. After a deputy spotted him, Washington initially refused to leave the shed.
Deputies later found out Washington had a 5-inch knife with him, the affidavit states.
He was charged with two counts of obstructing or opposing an officer without violence and one count each of possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, aggravated fleeing to elude, driving with a canceled, suspended or revoked license, reckless driving and armed burglary of a dwelling.
Washington, of 8204 Fir Drive, remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail had not been set.
