TAMPA -- The word "Gibson" has become synonymous with guitars. B.B. King, Ted Nugent and Slash are among the many stars to have performed with the company's instruments.
Chad Allen Gibson
On Tuesday, a Gibson used a guitar in a less common way. Chad Allen Gibson, 18, struck an 18-year-old Tampa woman on the left side of her face with a guitar, according to the Temple Terrace Police Department.
The woman, Amber Sierra, was cut on the left side of her face but didn't require medical attention, Temple Terrace police say.
Police arrested Gibson on Tuesday morning.
He was charged with aggravated battery, child abuse, criminal mischief and hosting an open house party.
According to police:
Gibson gave alcohol to a minor who "was/is a runaway" and caused $600 damage to a person's guitar by striking Sierra with it.
The guitar incident began because Gibson was upset that Sierra and another person, Frank Braat, were spending so much time together. Braat owned the guitar used to strike Sierra and also owned a hat that Gibson burned.
The arresting officer didn't take note of what type of guitar was used in the incident.
Gibson, of 13104 Sanctuary Cove Drive, No. 201, remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $10,250.
