NEW PORT RICHEY - Another Tampa Bay area educator is accused of having sex with a minor.
Substitute teacher Lisa Robyn Marinelli, 40, was arrested Monday and charged with unlawful sex with a minor, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. She also is accused of giving the 17-year-old boy a pair of her underwear as a memento of their sexual relationship, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
The boy's father told investigators that he saw his son "holding his pants together and putting them back in place" after exiting Marinelli's 2007 Chrysler 300 on Feb. 27, Doll said.
Communication between Marinelli and the boy began in January, when the boy was 16, records state. It was unclear how Marinelli met the boy.
"The victim's father provided documents of hundreds of cell phone calls, and there were about 35 text messages still on the victim's cell phone," Doll said.
No Previous Arrest Record
The boy showed investigators several locations where he said he had sex with Marinelli in her vehicle, Doll said. Under Florida law, a 17-year-old cannot consent to sex with a person 24 or older.
The boy told investigators he had sex with Marinelli 10 times between Jan. 12 and Feb. 27, an affidavit stated. Most of the sexual encounters took place in Marinelli's car at locations in and around the Longleaf community.
A business address on Marinelli's arrest report is that of Mitchell High School on Little Road in New Port Richey. It was not immediately known whether Marinelli, of 9824 Nicklaus Drive, had worked at other schools in the county. She has no previous arrest history, records show.
Marinelli was being held at the Land O' Lakes Jail on Monday night with bail set at $20,000.
Pasco school district officials did not return phone calls seeking comment and a Mitchell High assistant principal declined to comment.
A woman who answered the phone at Marinelli's address Monday evening said that neither Lisa Marinelli nor her husband, Brian, were available to comment.
Latest In String Of Arrests
Marinelli is the third Bay area teacher to be charged recently with a sex-related crime against a minor. In Hillsborough County, former Davidsen Middle School math teacher Stephanie Ragusa and Freedom High English teacher Mary Jo Spack of Wesley Chapel face charges of having sex with underage students.
Since 2005, at least 10 schoolteachers in Hillsborough and neighboring counties have been arrested on similar charges.
Doll said there was no indication that Marinelli had other possible victims.
"But if anybody has information about other victims we need to talk to them," he said.
Anyone with information may call the sheriff's office at 1-800-854-2862.

This is a sad situation. I feel very sorry for this woman's family and for the boy and his family. If this is true, it's a case of a confused woman connecting with a highly hormonal young man. I am not using this as an excuse but I see and hear these kids all the time. They are so much more physically mature than when I was a teen back in the late 70's. Sex is a game, a source of fun for them. Parents aren't parenting anymore. Kids aren't afraid of consequences at all.
There is absolutely no excuse for why Mrs. Marinelli ever put herself in a position to be inappropriate with a student. She should have known better and thought of her kids and husband first. She never should have chosen to be alone with any boy for any reason. It's called self-control. Something sorely lacking in many kids as well.
When this all blows over, the boy will move on and the "hot substitute" will be among the notches in his belt. No doubt, she was not his first. Her life and the lives of her husband and kids, however, will be ruined to some degree. I really wish all people, kids in particular, would show more care and respect for themselves by keeping their pants on. Kids need to keep them on until they are mature enough to deal with a sexual relationship.
Seriously, I happen to care very much about these kids. It hurts me more than I can say to see stuff like this happen. I hope we all remember that there are other people being affected by this news. Please have some thought for this woman's kids. This must be very difficult for them.

You must be kidding? You expect sympathy for the teacher's kids? Give me a break. She knew what she was doing. She was not confused. She made it all the way thru college and thru her 20's and 30's living normally. Yeah right. She is confused. These perverts and sex predators need to be locked up permanently. Especially teachers. The father of the boy should sue the heck out of the school board for hiring her in the first place.

Heck yeah......sue the school board....but is that really a good idea since if the school board is sued then the taxpayers are the ones who wind up paying any judgements won and so then the ones really punished are the innocent taxpayers. How about saying that a 17 year old boy who had sex with a woman at least 10 times could have said no any time he chose but instead he went back for more. I think he obviously was enjoying it and would not have said anything had he not gotten caught. He was after all 16-17 and nobody held a gun to his head.

I agree, bleuzman. It's not like he's a little kid. He's probably a lot bigger than she is. I guarantee he enjoyed it every time.
Sure, sue her personally if you must, put her in jail if it feels good, but please leave the school board out of it.

I still find it difficult to call these boys "victims" -- any of your guys on here remember what you thought about -- almost to the exclusion of everything else when you were say -- of -- about 14? Yep!
That doesn't defend what these teachers have done --- It's absolutely wrong, unprofessional, etc. It's like a supervisor having an affair with a subordinate in an employment setting -- just something not to be done. But calling a 14 y/o boy a "victim"? Sorry, can't go there. (Of course, mommie -- he's gonna be scarred for life because he had the best time of his life, ever... [rolling eyes] )

The last two comments posted on this board are absurd. This woman is not only a teacher, but the parent of a student at the school.
Comparing this to sexual harassment in the workplace is like comparing apples and oranges. You have a teacher and a MINOR child -
As for good looking? Here is the impresson of a sixteen-year-old that attends Mitchell -
"She dresses like she thinks she is a 12 year old prostitot and acts like a wanna be hooker" -
A sixteen year old can pick that up, but administrators can't. In addition young male students were always gathered around her - no red flags?
Roll your eyes all you want. The fact is he is just as much a victim of sexual abuse as a girl the same age would be.

Hey secksfenders, Mrs. Marinelli may not have any more than a high school diploma. That's all you need in Pasco County to be a substitute. The county is so desperate for substitutes, they'll let practically anyone work for them, at least once anyway. It can be a tortuous job with not more than $50 for a day's work. Walmart and Publix pay more than that and bagging groceries is much less stressful.
As far as no sympathy for her kids? What are you, a CLOWN? Her daughter will have to deal with the whispers and stares of her peers. She did not ask for that. Her mother caused it, however unintentional. You are either not a parent or just plain ignorant to imply that there should be no sympathy for her kids. They are completely innocent in this.

It takes 2 to tango! I feel no sympathy for this kid or the teacher. They both knew what they did was wrong and should equally suffer some sort of consequence for it. The teacher more than the male, but it's not fair that the boy gets away free and clear. We need to send a message to teenagers that they also bare a responsibility when trying to screw their teachers. This is more than just throwing tissue on bathroom walls.

Let's have a little fun with this, folks. Obviously you can all tell me to go stuff it, but what if everyone who posts indicates whether they are male or female, I'm willing to bet we can make a conclusion about people's thoughts on this. I already have an idea on it, but I will share that later.... ;)

I use "Prostitot" to describe all the half naked wanna be Brittany Spears duplicates running the streets in belly shirts and skirts so short you can see what they had for breakfast.
As a single mother who has had to fix plumbing, bring home a salary, and provide a moral upbringing for her child alone, I *hate* that double standard - but you are right it does still exist.
I'm most apalled at the fact that as a mother, this woman gave no consideration to her child.

CrazyIvan,
Male. I say the boy is wrong too and needs to be taught a lesson. Put them to community service or something. I have 2 boys, and if they pulled a stunt like this, I would let them have it. But, I would lmao in the closet. Ha!

You are all stupid!
If they sue the school board that means less teachers, another words no education for students trying to get an education.
Just because a teacher did something wrong doesn't mean the kids should suffer!
