TAMPA - A judge in Hillsborough County sent a message Wednesday to a man accused of saying he had a bomb in his possession while at Tampa International Airport.
Judge Walter Heinrich ordered the man, Richard L. Gabel II of Kentucky, to stay away from the airport.
"If you've got to get someplace, you'll need to walk," Heinrich said.
Gabel, 36, was arrested at 2:43 p.m. Tuesday after a witness heard Gabel say he had a bomb, Heinrich said in court Wednesday.
"You said something to the effect of, 'What am I supposed to do with the pipe bomb in my back pocket?'" Heinrich told Gabel.
In addition to ordering Gabel to stay away from the airport, Heinrich set the man's bail at $15,000 - twice the standard bail for a bomb threat charge.
Gabel remained in Orient Road Jail on Wednesday.
