NEW PORT RICHEY - Residents of Briar Patch, Nature's Hideaway and Trinity West plan a gathering Saturday to discuss Progress Energy's plans for high-power transmission lines, which could cut through their neighborhoods.
The meeting is at 10 a.m. at Chester McKay VFW Post 7987, 7445 Chester McKay Drive.
Progress Energy in June plans to file an application with the state Department of Environmental Protection identifying a preferred route for 200 miles of transmission lines. The lines would distribute power from a planned nuclear plant in Levy County.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission also would have to sign off on the plans. The review process could take about three years.
