Polk County deputies have seized 8 pounds of methamphetamine and four guns and arrested three men they say intended to sell the drug.
Deputies were conducting an investigation in Haines City, encountered the men in front of a mobile home and were given permission to search, authorities said. Deputies found the drug and guns while searching the three men's residence, 540 Peak Drive, about 6 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Black said.
A 12-gauge shotgun and three 9 mm handguns, including one listed as stolen in Hillsborough County, were found close to the drugs, Black said. They also found a digital scale authorities think was used to weigh the drugs.
"This is one of the largest meth seizures in Polk County history," Sheriff Grady Judd in a news release.
Deputies said one of the men, Jose Molina-Garcia, told them he bought the drug and planned to distribute it.
Molina-Garcia, 28, was charged with armed trafficking in more than 400 grams of methamphetamine and conspiracy to traffic more than 400 grams of the drug.
Also arrested were Valentine Ramirez, 37, and Rubin Gonzalez-Rodriguez, 34. Both were charged with trafficking in more than 28 grams of methamphetamine and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.
