SAFETY HARBOR - About six people have fallen ill at an Einstein Brothers Bagels restaurant at 2519 McMullen-Booth Road., possibly from exposure to carbon monoxide, authorities said.
The incident was reported shortly before 9 a.m. The popular bagel shop was evacuated. Customers and employees complaining of dizziness and nausea were taken to a local hospital, according to Pinellas County 911 dispatchers.
The suspected carbon monoxide leak is being blamed on a faulty ventilation system. No other businesses are affected in the strip mall, where the bagel shop is located. The shop is expected to be closed throughout the weekend, according to broadcast reports.
