Give Ballpark Plan Some Time

Regarding "Rays' Critics Shouldn't Be So Quick To Throw Out Stadium, Trop Plans" (Our Opinion, April 28):

Your editorial could well have been titled "Patience Is A Virtue," although opponent concern is understandable considering the Ray's past performance on the field and off, our economy being in recession and negative public attitude toward taxes.

The new ownership appears committed to move the Ray's forward on the field by investing in talented players. Last weekend they soundly defeated the Red Sox three in a row. They professionally market the team. Attendance is up.

There are many complex factors to work out, financial and others such as parking. We need to be patient remembering that baseball is a business. Orlando is ready and waiting in the wings for a professional sports team.

It really is exciting to ponder playing baseball outdoors on the waterfront with the accompanying potential of new development as proposed by three developers. Let us give the Rays the opportunity to present a detailed and sensible plan that can be analyzed and debated.
