A 21-year-old Bradenton man was charged today in connection with a fatal shooting in June, police said.
Homicide detectives have charged William H. Caldwell with first-degree murder. Caldwell already was being held in Manatee County Jail on unrelated charges including robbery, jail records show.
DNA and fingerprint evidence, along with testimony from witnesses, link Caldwell to the June 1, 2007, fatal shooting of 59-year-old Robert Prater, detectives said.

The investigation is ongoing.
