PLANT CITY – Jacksonville Eagle's View rallied to an improbable 6-5 win against previously undefeated Lake Worth Christian in a Class 1A state semifinal Monday at Plant City Stadium.

Trailing 5-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors (17-12) scored two unearned runs to cause jubilation on the Eagle's View side and utter shock on the Defenders' side.

"I don't know what to say," Lake Worth Christian coach Warren Brooks said. "We had too many mistakes. We had Eagle's View where we wanted them and we let it get away."

Aaron Cribb led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Brooke Evans laid down a sacrifice bunt toward third but was safe on a high throw to first. With Cribb rounding second base, the Defenders' first baseman attempted to pick her off but the throw sailed to the left-field fence, allowing Cribb and Evans to score to end the game.

"It was a great game," Eagle's View coach Warren Brooks said. "My girls just didn't give up."

Lake Worth Christian (25-1) looked poised to remain undefeated when it used a four-run fourth inning to break open a 1-1 game. Lauren Even highlighted the outburst with a bases-clearing double down the left-field line to make it 5-1.

Eagle's View stayed patient despite the deficit. The Warriors answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added another in the sixth.

"We've come back before," Cribb said, "so we didn't get down when we fell behind."

It was the first time all season Lake Worth Christian, which committed seven errors in the game, had given up more than five runs.
