CLEARWATER - A 21-year-old Oldsmar man was killed Monday evening when a van turned in front of the car he was driving on Mandalay Avenue, authorities said.
Cristobal Angelo Cordano of 1708C Azalea Court was pronounced dead at Morton Plant Hospital after the 6:23 p.m. wreck at Rockaway Street and Mandalay, said Joelle Castelli, a spokesman for the city.
Cordano was driving south on Mandalay Avenue when a conversion van driven by Mario Ghiloni, 25, of Newark, Ohio, turned in front of the Mazda that Cordano was driving, Castelli said.
Neither Cordano nor his passenger, Deavon Rudd, 16, also of Oldsmar, was wearing a seat belt, Castelli said. Rudd was taken to Largo Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Castelli said.
Neither Ghiloni nor his passenger, Kayle Smith, 24, also of Newark, Ohio, had life-threatening injuries, Castelli said.
An investigation is under way.
