TAMPA - Four units and 20 firefighters responded to an Auburndale home today when its residents reported heavy smoke and flames engulfing the second floor, Polk County Fire Rescue officials said.
The call came in at 2:30 p.m. at 2113 Terry Lane, spokeswoman Heather McClanahan said. The first units on scene saw heavy smoke billowing from the second floor.
No one was hurt in the blaze and no other homes or structures were affected, McClanahan said.
The people in the home, five adults and two children, have been displaced by the fire but will stay with relatives tonight, McClanahan said.
The state Fire Marshal's office is at the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
