AN EVENING ON THE FARM: Grab the kids and head over to the Pesto Festo at Sweetwater Organic Community Farm on Saturday evening.

Fill up on organic pesto pasta, salad, bread and desserts while listening to the Urban Gypsies' live music, sampling wines and bidding in the silent auction.

The annual fundraiser starts at 6 p.m.; music begins at 7. Tickets are $17 in advance or $20 at the door; $4/$5 for ages 7 to 12; free for ages 6 and younger. PLANT SALE: A plant sale will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pinellas County Extension, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

Bring a wagon and shop for a wide variety of gardening items, plants and trees. Master gardeners and horticulturists will be on hand to answer questions.

ORCHID AUCTION: The Tampa Bay Orchid Society will hold its annual auction at 7:30 p.m. May 15 at Seminole United Methodist Church, 1209 Hanna St., Tampa.

Proceeds benefit the society, a nonprofit organization. The group also will hold a short meeting before the auction. Call (813) 310-7676 for information.

VIOLET CLUB: The Tampa African Violet Society will meet at 10 a.m. May 16 at Brandon Recreation Center, 510 E. Sadie St.
