SEMINOLE -- A 15-year-old student at Osceola Middle School was arrested today, accused by deputies of bringing a handgun to school.
Alexander B. Glass, of 1625 Whitewood Drive, Clearwater, was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm on school grounds, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Students approached the school's resource officer about 9:30 a.m. and reported that when they were on a school bus, they saw a student who had a gun. The deputy stopped Glass as he was coming out of the bathroom and took him away from other students.
Glass had a handgun and a magazine with two rounds, the sheriff's office said.
Glass told deputies that he had shown the gun to several students on the bus and later to other boys in the school's bathroom. Glass said that he accidentally brought the weapon to school and usually leaves it in a flower pot at a Clearwater school bus stop, according to deputies.
The teen possibly was attempting to sell the gun to another student, the sheriff's office said.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that a second weapon also was taken to the bus stop and displayed on at least five other occasions. The weapon was recovered from Glass' house, the sheriff's office said.
Glass was taken to the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center.
