GULF HARBORS - Brooksville-based American Hurricane Specialists Inc. will conduct an expo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Gulf Harbors Civic Center, 4610 Floramar Terrace.
At 9 a.m., company President Wayne Bennett and crew will demonstrate the installation of steel hurricane panels.
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the spotlight will be shared by other businesses and agencies associated with hurricane preparedness. Those include the American Red Cross, Nature Coast Home Inventory (video/photo inventory for insurance purposes), ADT security and alarm systems, My Safe Florida Home (offering free wind inspections), Florida Department of Financial Services and Genie garage door openers.
Attendees can use information they pick up at the expo to make good choices in preparing for hurricane season, which starts June 1.
Many options for protecting homes will be discussed and demonstrated.
Plus, American Hurricane Specialists is providing complimentary appetizers and beverages.
The expo coincides with the Gulf Harbors Civic Association's effort to form a Community First Response Team and to use its building as a command center in an emergency. Bennett has offered to donate storm shutters for the building to comply with state requirements for wind protection.
