Published: May 9, 2008

No answers have come in the death of 16-year-old Maddie Clermont, who died Thursday after her bedroom caught fire in a northwest Tampa neighborhood.

What or who caused the fire at 5012 Grainary Ave. and how Clermont died remain undetermined, officials said.

An autopsy was performed, but results are pending and could take weeks to arrive, said Dick Bailey of the medical examiner's office.

Sheriff's investigators are waiting for those same results for their investigation, sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

"As of right now, it appears accidental," Carter said today.

OMG!!! Yesterday i was driving down Ehrlich Rd. about 3:30 and i had to pull over for the ambulance to go pass me and this is the story for it. poor girl! I dont understand how this happened so quickly. School doesnt get out till 2:50 and so this girl was able to get home and have this fire happen and died. That wasnt very long to be home for all this to happen not unless she stayed home from school. My heart goes out to her family and friends.
