Homeless Man Wounded In Manatee Stabbing

BRADENTON - Deputies are investigating the stabbing of a homeless man early this morning.
Kenneth J. Hettel, 44, suffered life-threatening multiple stab wounds to his back and was admitted to Manatee Memorial Hospital, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office. His condition was not immediately available.
Hettel told sheriff's deputies he was in a fight that occurred in a wooded area at 1000 53rd Avenue East about 1:50 a.m., a sheriff's office news release said. Witnesses called 911 after Hettel stumbled into their tent, bleeding heavily.
Investigators found two crime scenes in the woods, but no weapon or suspects.
