$16 Million Lotto Ticket Sold At Bradenton Store

TAMPA - A couple of people in the Tampa Bay area could be having a good day. A really, really good day.

That's if they checked their Lotto and Fantasy 5 tickets.

One person won a $16 million Lotto drawing Saturday night on a ticket sold in Bradenton.
And that person may be happy that an extra $1 spent on the winning ticket boosted the jackpot by $10 million.

Another person won more than $268,000 from a Fantasy 5 ticket sold in Largo. Each was the lone winner in the drawing.

Jay Patel, owner of Bud's Mini Mart in Bradenton where the winning Lotto ticket was sold, didn't know one of his customers was a newly minted millionaire until told Sunday when told by a reporter.

"All right. We never had any expectations of selling a winning ticket," he said.
The independent, family-run convenience store at 1000 Carlton Arms Blvd. sells about 1,000 Lotto tickets a week.

Most of his customers are local residents so there's a good chance he knows the winner, Patel said.

The winner of the Lotto ticket took part in a new feature of the Lottery that allows buyers to pay an extra dollar to add $10 million to a jackpot or $2 to boost the winnings by $25 million.

The original jackpot was $6 million. The additional winnings boosted that to $16 million.

In Saturday's drawing, 84 players matched five numbers for $4,530. Another 4,648 matched four numbers for $66 and 96,408 matched three numbers to win $4.50.

The six winning Lotto numbers were: 11-15-22-23-25-42.
The winning Fantasy 5 ticket was a computer generated quick pick sold at Convenient Mart, 1254 Seminole Blvd. Largo.

The winning numbers were: 9-17-27-28-32

There's more than bragging rights and appealing to gamblers as a lucky store for the merchant that sells winning tickets. For Lotto, the retailer gets $10,000 plus $5,000 for each time the jackpot has rolled over.

A store selling a winning Fantasy 5 ticket gets $500.
