As a boy, Michael Conner Humphreys made a splash on the silver screen as "Young Forrest Gump." As an adult, he somewhat mirrored the life of his movie character: He joined the Army and fought in an unpopular war.
Humphreys' enlistment ends June 4, and Hollywood is already calling. He's landed a role in an independent film, playing, of course, a soldier.
"Pathfinders" is the story of the men of the 504th Parachute Regiment who jumped into Normandy early on D-Day to disrupt German activities and find the way for the coming invasion force.
"It's a small start. I'm still going to go to school at the University of North Alabama, but if acting snowballs and it goes somewhere else, that'd be fine," he said.
Archuleta's Dad Banned From 'Idol' Rehearsals
Backstage meddling has caught up with "American Idol" favorite David Archuleta's dad, who's been banned from rehearsals, a person working for the TV talent contest said Friday.
Jeff Archuleta was told last week by producers that he can no longer join his 17-year-old son, David, as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.
Jeff Archuleta's intense backstage involvement had become a source of concern for the series, the person said - but it was a lyric change on Tuesday's show that pushed producers to act.
Despite a warning, Jeff Archuleta insisted on altering "Stand by Me," one of two songs his son sang Tuesday. By adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," the father incurred additional costs for "American Idol," the person said.
