Two people died and three others were injured in separate accidents on Saturday, one in Pasco County and one in Pinellas County.
In Pasco County, a 40-year-old man died when he was thrown from a vehicle that went out of control on Curley Road northeast of Zephyrhills, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Two others were also thrown from the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Todd M. Rudisill died in the accident. Kelly B. Bray, 31, and Brian Lee Rudisill, 50, were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, the FHP said.
Troopers do not have an address for any of the victims and do not know who was driving when the vehicle spun off the west side of Curley Road about 9:55 p.m. Saturday, hit a fence, crossed the road again and flipped, throwing all three people from the vehicle.
In Pinellas County, Dorothy M. Schneider, 45, 40 Pinetree Court. in Palm Harbor, died when her 2004 Jaguar was struck on Alderman Road about 12:20 p.m. Saturday, the FHP said.
Cathy Hauber, 52, 3569 Shoreline Circle, was driving east on Alderman when Schneider's car pulled into the eastbound lanes. Hauber's car hit the passenger side of Schneider's and pushed it into a utility pole, the FHP said.
Hauber was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, the FHP said.
No charges have been filed in either accident, though troopers are continuing to investigate both.

Hauber-Schneider - Two women at the that time of life most enjoyable - tragic.
Interesting that the reporter reported the victim's car make but said nothing of the other car that struck the Jaguar. Was it another big SUV? It seems there needs to be more reporting on the effects of large vehicles in this time of down-sizing.
The drivers of the big vehicle say they are "safer." While thats obviously true for themselves, their vehicle is equally more dangerous for the smaller vehicle's passengers.
As fuel nears $4 a gallon on average and it costs $8 a gallon on average in europe, as an exaample of where it can go, should we not regulate the size of passenger vehicles on our roads?
Are the small cars becoming targets for "Hummers"?
Just some thoughts.

To DougSays- please take your socialism etc. elsewhere. Your anti SUV comments are not backed up in this story and last I checked those that can afford any vehicle can and should feel free to purchase it. I smell some wacko environmentalism as well. This is America bub and stuff happens and people die. Sad but that is fact, Taking away freedom doesn't change such.

The other car was a mercedes and if you check out the pic in the Times you will see this lady had to be speeding due to the amount of damage.

DougSays:
Who cares whether it is an SUV or not? Besides, The price of gas alone will force more and more SUV's off the road, especially if gas goes further and further north of $4/gallon.
Noone in their right mind, unless wealthy, is going to spend hundreds of dollars per week (in turn several thousand a month) for gas alone just to drive one....just my views....

DougSays ...... We don't need the government telling us what type of car we can drive; this is still a free country and we need to fight to keep it so. As the price goes up it is up to the individual to decide if it makes economical sense for them to keep it. If public demand falls off enough the auto makers would discontinue making the larger vehicles. Remember they are only in it for the money.
As for size and safety it's the people driving them that is the problem. No matter what size vehicle you drive, if operated in a reckless manner it can cause death and destruction.

Being thrown from the car means with almost 100% certainty they were not wearing seatbelts. I do not think there should be a law requiring adults to wear seatbelts. There should however be a law requiring non-seatbelt wearers to have the word IDIOT permanently tatooed on their foreheads.

Hey reptaddict, has it ever crossed your mind that family members of the deceased read these blogs???????? I live in another state, and was just trying to find out what happened to my brothers, and then I come across an insensitive remark like yours. We're hurting enough a55hole. I don't really need comments like yours. Next time think before you write something so cruel. Keep your comments to yourself. I'm already having a lovely mother's day.

My wife bought her Excursion for her safety driving across the speedway called the Howard Franklin bridge every day. I noticed that most Excursions and large vehicles are driven by women and believe it is for their safety not for any fashion statement. So our gas bill is a little higher but we do value our safety. I cant make judgement on that crash without reading the crash report but bet the lady that died either failed to yield or possibly didnt even stop before entering the roadway. The other crash most likely involved speed and would bet that seat belts if used would have saved one life and possibly less serious injuries. It also makes me wonder if alcohol was involved, just wondering. FHP will sort things out in both cases. The ones I feel sorry for are the familys left behind as they do the suffering not the stupid ones.

todu385, your right, we are suffering. This is the worst day of my life. My poor parents have to bury one son, and quite possibly another. I wish people would be a little more sensitive to the survivors, no need to call my brother stupid, he's dead. Isn't that enough?!?!?!

it's sad when a comment is posted that has nothing to do with an article. The bottom line is that once again families have lost loved ones that mean the world to them.Children nolonger have a mother to wish Happy Mother's Day to. The individuals that lost their lives here have value and will be missed by those that knew them.
I was not there and only those that witnessed the accidents have knowlegde as to what may have occurred. What has happened to compassion when a tragedy strikes. It could be my mother or teenage daughter that this story was about. Always remember that you could be the one that has lost a mother, brother, sister, father or a best friend. I'm sorry for the pain that these families now must face.

I have to agree with CConrad. I was called very early this morning to the hear the news. And while this IS a tragic event, not ONE OF YOU knows the truth. Or the people closest to these people. CConrad is right...have some respect for the families! The same stupidity you are complaining about is the same stupidity you are using when writing about these things.

tinahasshells is right. Two beautiful liitle boys lost their father today. Not to mention all the nieces and nephews. Could you hateful people say it to their faces? I also notice that no one has the courage to continue to be so mean now that some people from the family are posting messages.

goodtimejim, yeah I guess some would think it is strange, and to be honest with you I don't know why I keep torturing myself either. Maybe I feel the need to defend my family's honor. I just cannot fathom how people can be so mean, hateful, and cruel. You never know how your going to react until your in this situation. Just PLEASE stop writing judgemental, hateful things about my family. EVERYONE makes mistakes. His just happened to be fatal. Think about the kids they left behind, and their families. For God's sakes, just have some compassion. It could be one of your family members.. you never know. And Mr.reptaddict, you can go staight to h3ll! I'm done, my hearts been ripped out enough. I just really had no idea society was so sick.

This is tragic. God, please give strength, answers and speedy healing to all family and friends of these poor victims. Help them find peace and let them remember all of the good times when they are in pain. God, please help the victims that were injured to recover quickly and with little pain. In your name I pray. Amen.

Doug, the last thing we need is some arbitrary limitations on who can or cannot drive large non-commercial vehicles.
When not on my motorcycle, I drive a '99F250 Diesel (7.3L turbo direct injection) -the truck weighs in about 6000lbs To say the least, I'm very safe inside that tank. I pay for it at the pump. I'm certainly capable of gettng a matchbox car that runs on an eye-dropper full of fuel, but am just not willing to sacrifice my safety and comfort that way. No, I'll be driving this beast around long after most other cars have been relegated to the trash heap (since the average longevity of these beasts runs well above the half a million mile mark)
When the weather gets cooler, I ride the bike.
You start making 'laws' telling us what size vehicle we cannt drive (for whatever reason say economy or risk to fellow motorists) and you risk falling down a very steep slippery sloap. Lets take it to the other extreme. I think nobody should be allowed to drive anything larger than a large motorcycle -cars don't get their level of efficiency, they take up far less space, and USUALLY, riders are a bit more aware of their surroundings (or they don't ride very much longer) -less traffic congestion and more parking spaces, less fuel bought. Dump your cars.
My entire point is, I can use the "no big trucks and suv" argument, word for word, point for point, to say 'no cars'. There are many who do not wish to ride bikes. Unlike the cage drivers, we bikers don't make noise about trying to get you to conform to OUR desires -when your vehicle is clearly more dangerous to us than that big truck is to you.
Quit whining. Its still America, and you are still allowed to buy and drive pretty much whatever you want to -so long as you can afford it.

My heart goes out to all involved directly or indirectly to this accident...what amazes me people vetch about the price of gas here but I notice in my travels (which I travel alot for my job) at least 90% still speed (which common sense tells you you are going to go through more gas) so I don't want to hear about the price of gas from any of you vetching about it.....try to stay on topic...and it really doesn't matter how the accident happened.....it happened and the poor family has to prepare for a funeral when they should have been enjoying Mother's Day
