TAMPA - Two houses in the Northdale area were ablaze this afternoon, but firefighters extinguished the flames within about 45 minutes, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials said.
Twelve units and 30 firefighters were called to the two-alarm fire at 4906 Traskwood Court about 3 p.m. The first units on scene reported that flames had gone through the roof of one of the houses, fire rescue spokesman Ray Yeakley said.
The flames spread to the house next door.
No one was home in the house where the fire started, Yeakley said. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but authorities said the flames started in the attic.
No residents or firefighters were hurt, Yeakley said. Assistance from the Red Cross was offered to the homeowners, he said.
Damage estimates were not available. The investigation has been turned over to the state fire marshal's office, Yeakley said.
