TAMPA - Homicide detectives are seeking information in the slaying of a 25-year-old man whose body was found Sunday in the parking lot of a Frostproof citrus grove, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Octavio Hernandez, of 252 Dawes Road, Frostproof, was last seen Saturday by a co-worker at Hyatt Farms, sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Wood said. Hernandez told the co-worker he was going to the Rio Grande Bar, 540 S. Scenic Highway, and left walking east on West Fifth Street in Frostproof, detectives said.
Hernandez's body was found Sunday near a trailer at Ben Hill Griffin Inc., a citrus grower at 702 S. Scenic Highway, Wood said. An autopsy performed today indicates that Hernadez was the victim of homicide, the sheriff's office said.
Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detective David Wallace at (863) 534-6379 or (863) 534-6200.
