PANAMA CITY BEACH - A Georgia man is dead after he was pulled from the water during the swimming portion of a triathlon in the Florida Panhandle.
Thirty-eight year old Patrick Kane of Roswell, Georgia, died at a hospital shortly after he was pulled from the Gulf of Mexico during the Gulf Coast Triathlon yesterday.
Race Director Shelley Bramblett called Kane's death a "tragic incident."
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Lt. Stan Kirkland says officials from his agency were called to the scene at about 8 a.m. to help in the rescue effort.
An autopsy hasn't been scheduled yet.
