DADE CITY - Racing led to an April 27 wreck on River Road that seriously injured a woman, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers arrested Frankie Dwayne Harrelson, 20, of 15220 Puckett Road, and Cory Shane Riley, 17, of 14833 Johns Road Saturday evening.
According to reports, Riley was driving a Nissan pickup when it struck a Jeep Cherokee driven by Elena Del Rio Figueroa as she was pulling out of a church parking lot shortly after 9 p.m. Harrison, who was following close behind Harrelson in a Honda Accord, then hit the Nissan.
Figueroa was transported by helicopter to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, where she was treated for serious injuries. Her husband, Jose Miranda-Colin, also was treated for a shattered collar bone.
Harrelson told investigators he was driving about 35 mph, but an investigation determined he was driving much faster.
