A fire fought on Sunday in Polk County rekindled overnight, destroying a home and injuring four pigs, county spokeswoman Heather McClanahan said.
The fire originally started at 11:23 a.m. Sunday in a mobile home at Darlynn's Darlings Inc., a pig rescue sanctuary at 2854 Rosalie Lake Road in Lake Wales. Firefighters reported at least 200 pigs were at the location when they arrived.
Firefighters saved the mobile home and its contents Sunday, but a neighbor called about 3:30 a.m. today to say the fire had rekindled, McClanahan said.
At least four pigs were injured, and the American Red Cross is helping the two people who lost their home, McClanahan said.
Investigators said a faulty wire in a light fixture on the front porch of the mobile home sparked the blaze.
