Police: Tampa DUI Arrest Involves Snooze, Bashed Cruiser

TAMPA - Police say that as they approached a man who appeared to be passed out in his car this morning, he tried to speed off and slammed into a cruiser and concrete pole.

Marcus Courval Earle, 52, of 15501 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Cypress Run apartments, was in a 2003 silver Buick at the complex about 8 a.m., police say. Officers said that when they approached the vehicle he appeared to be passed out. Earle saw them, they said, accelerated and hit a patrol car and a concrete barrier pole for a bicycle path.

Earle was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, careless driving and driving with a suspended license. He was taken to Orient Road Jail. Bail was set at $750.
