TAMPA - Police are looking for a man they say offered candy bars to children at a city park, then offered to masturbate in front of them.
Tampa police say Gerald Wayne Brown, 31, is being sought on a charge of lewd and lascivious behavior related to Saturday's incident at a Giddens Park pavilion.
According to a preliminary report, Brown approached several children at the park at 5209 N. 12th St. about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and offered them candy bars.
He laid out several pornographic magazines in front of the children and asked whether they wanted to watch him masturbate, police said.
Police said an adult playing basketball nearby who "had prior knowledge of the suspect from a previous incident that involved his children" chased Brown away.
Court records show Brown was charged in May 2006 with felony lewd and lascivious exhibition and misdemeanor lewd and lascivious behavior. He was not prosecuted, court records show.
Brown served about six months in a county jail after being convicted in 2007 of misdemeanor charges of battery, carrying a concealed weapon, criminal mischief and obstructing an officer without violence.
