ST. PETERSBURG - Mayor Rick Baker kicked off National Bike to Work Day this morning by riding his bicycle 2.2 miles to city hall from a waterfront park in northeast St. Petersburg.

Along the way, Baker paused to announce an initiative designed to reduce the city's carbon footprint and further enhance St. Petersburg's Green City efforts. City officials also gave an update on the city trails program and the progress of the St. Petersburg Downtown Pinellas Trail extension.

The mayor then resumed his ride to city hall, joined by city employees and other cyclists.
