DADE CITY - Authorities have identified the victims of last night's double homicide near the corner of Meredith Street and Hutchinson Street in the Tommy Town area of Dade City.
Killed were Santos De La Cruz, 33, and Quirino Velasquez, 46, both of Mexican citizenship, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said. Deputies responding to a 9:57 p.m. call about a shooting found the two men lying in Hutchinson Street with gunshot wounds.
Detectives are trying to determine what the men were doing in the neighborhood and the events that led up to their deaths.
A relative of the two men who went to the scene told deputies the men were roommates and lived at 14860 17th St., Apt. 8, in Dade City, the sheriff's office said.
The relative said the two men were going to the store together and never came back.
Detectives are asking that anyone who saw what happened or who knows who might be responsible to contact the Pasco Sheriff's Office at (727)844-7711.
