Published: May 17, 2008

Ellen DeGeneres and longtime girlfriend Portia de Rossi are jumping at the chance to get married.

DeGeneres announced their engagement during a Thursday taping of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," telling the studio audience the news that the California Supreme Court had struck down state laws against gay marriage.

"So I would like to say now, for the first time, I am announcing: I am getting married," she said during the show, airing Friday.

The studio audience leapt to its feet for a long ovation, and De Rossi ("Ally McBeal," "Nip/Tuck") was sitting in the audience, beaming and clapping.

Then DeGeneres cracked: "Thank you. I'll tell you who the lucky guy is soon."

'Idol' Bringing Soulful Flavor To 'Grease'

Taylor Hicks is going from "Idol" to "Angel."

The "American Idol" alum will join the Broadway cast of "Grease" on June 6, playing Teen Angel in the revival of the popular musical.

The singer said he plans to add "soulful flavor" to his performance of "Beauty School Dropout."

"It's a big number, and, you know, I've made some pretty grand entrances before," Hicks, 31, told The Associated Press on Thursday. "And this one is probably the grandest entrance I've had in my career."

Parker Not Fashionista Like Her Character

Sarah Jessica Parker says she's not a slave to fashion like her "Sex and the City" character Carrie Bradshaw.

"I am a mother, wife and working woman in the first place, clothes do not play such a big role in my life than they do in Carrie's," the 43-year-old actress told The Associated Press after the Berlin premiere of her upcoming film based on the popular HBO series.

"And there is no favorite designer or accessory as there is Manolo Blahnik for Carrie - there are so many talented and exciting designers, I could not possibly choose one favorite," Parker said Friday.

Joining Parker on the red carpet Thursday night were co-stars Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

The movie opens May 30.

Judge Blocks Access To R. Kelly Files

A judge has denied a motion from news organizations seeking immediate access to sealed court records and transcripts in the R. Kelly child pornography trial.

Judge Vincent Gaughan also refused to lift a gag order forbidding attorneys to talk about the case.

The judge says the time isn't right to release the information and keeping it secret is the only way to guarantee a fair trial.

Kelly has pleaded not guilty to charges he videotaped himself having sex with an underage girl.

Jury selection in the R&B singer's trial finished this week. Opening arguments begin Tuesday.

They Promised The Moon, The Stars, And Heaven Above. And just like Charlie Brown I got a rock.

As a songwriter who's parents were songwriters, like them I write because I love it. It's never been about the money. But when the NUMBER ONE SHOW ON TELEVISION says they're looking for some amateur to write the Next Great American Idol Finale Song. Wow! The first thing that crossed my mind was.....MILLIONS! Millions of people. Millions of cd's. Millions of dollars. Millions. I'm betting I'm not the only one.......of Millions.

It's Time For Some Answers!
This is the second year in a row that American Idol has had a songwriting contest. Since the contest ended last year I've researched the contestants from last year and this year....FYI there were over 25,000 entries last year at $10.00 for each song. 20 songs were then chosen out of the 25,000 for an online vote. The winner's song is then performed on the American Idol Finale. The problem I have is that one of THIS years Top 20 Songwriting Finalist is a Co-writer of LAST years Top 20 Songwriting Winner. Somebody from American Idol has some explaining to do.

If you want proof of fraud.
