Sheriff's detectives are investigating the third killing in the Tommy Town area north of Dade City in two days.

Early this morning, a man in his early to middle 20s was shot after an argument broke out in the parking lot of a dance club and moved to a convenience store, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives have not identified the victim until family members are notified, said sheriff's spokesman Doug Tobin.

Investigators do not believe the killing is related to a double murder Friday night.

"This appears to be a different situation," Tobin said.

The shooting occurred about 2:30 this morning at the corner of 14th and Lock streets in Dade City and began with a fight outside the dance club called La Onda. Tobin did not know if the club served alcohol.

The fight involved a small group of people in their late teens and a group of adults in their 20s to 30s, Tobin said.

The argument spilled into the parking lot of a convenience store on Lock Street and a dark SUV pulled into the parking lot. The sheriff's office said the victim went up to the vehicle and was shot.

Tobin said deputies are interviewing about a dozen witnesses.

The shooting took place about six blocks from where Santos De La Cruz, 33, and Quirino Velasquez, 46, were found shot to death just before 10 p.m. Friday.

The two men are citizens of Mexico and witnesses said they were roommates, living in an apartment at 14860 17th St. They had gone to a store and did not return.

The sheriff's office does not have a motive for the killings. The shooting took place near the intersection of Meredith and Hutchinson streets, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to call the Pasco sheriff's office at (727) 844-7711.
