Polk County deputies are asking for the public's help identifying a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning.
About 1 a.m., a vehicle struck and killed a man who was walking across West Highland Street at Southern Avenue in Lakeland. The vehicle fled the scene.
Deputies said the victim was about 30 years old with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a gray T-shirt and blue flip-flops.
The victim had 3 tattoos on his body: on his right shoulder, right bicep and stomach. He was wearing a gold band on his right ring finger and a gold necklace, deputies said.
If anyone has any information about the crash or the identity of the victim, they are asked to call Polk County Traffic Deputy Sheriff Matthew Williams at (863) 577-1600 or (800) 226-0344.
