TAMPA – A graduate of Blake High School grabs the spotlight beginning tonight by taking on a role in the Broadway production of Disney's "The Lion King" at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
Dan'yelle Williamson, who graduated with honors from Blake in 2002, will play Nala, the young friend of the protagonist, Simba.
Williamson, former member of the local group The Young Motivational Singers, will be part of the production through June 22. The 24-year-old earned a degree in theater from the Boston Conservatory of Music and appeared in the musical "Wicked" in Chicago.
