TAMPA - A Durant man with warrants for his arrest called the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and left a threatening voice message for the detective assigned to his case, deputies say.
Deputies responded to Justin Bryant's home at 5:10 p.m. Monday, and after initially not speaking to them, Bryant exited the home and stood on Schoolhouse Lane with what appeared to be a handgun, a sheriff's office release states.
"He said he wasn't going to jail," sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.
While negotiating with Bryant, deputies closed Durant Road between Sawmill and Turkey Creek roads.
SWAT team members and a canine unit came to the scene and took Bryant into custody about 7 p.m., according to the media release. Bryant had a handgun in his possession.
Bryant, 19, of 2718 Schoolhouse Lane, was charged with a threat against a public servant. He also was arrested on warrants for armed burglary and grand theft firearm.
He remained in Falkenburg Road Jail today. His bail had not been set.
