As the broadcast television season winds down, a winner will be crowned on "Dancing With the Stars," someone will be exiting "NCIS" and "Shark" will come to an end.
Here's the lowdown on tonight's action:
Happy feet: Ice princess Kristi Yamaguchi is as formidable on the dance floor as she is on the rink.
The 36-year-old former Olympic skating champion should win "Dancing With the Stars" on the season finale at 8 on ABC. But you never can tell how the public has voted.
Also in the running are 33-year-old Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, who is using this exposure to launch an acting career, and the charismatic Cristian de la Fuente, the 34-year-old actor and model from Chile.
This show has done a lot to make ballroom dancing look sexy and exciting.
Some say the real "stars" are the professional dancers, such as hunky Mark Ballas (Yamaguchi's partner); skimpy-outfit queen Edyta Sliwinska (making Taylor look good) and choreographic whiz Cheryl Burke (de la Fuente's dance mate).
DOA on "NCIS": Fans of CBS' military legal drama "NCIS" have been in a tizzy over which major character will be leaving the show on the two-hour season finale, which begins at 8.
It would be a big surprise if series star Mark Harmon (Agent Gibbs) isn't coming back for a sixth season.
And the show wouldn't be the same without David McCallum as Dr. Ducky or Pauley Perrette as gothic gal and forensic expert Abby Sciuto. Michael Weatherly's Agent DiNozzo should be safe, too.
CBS promises the fate of the entire team of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service hangs in the balance. That could mean curtains for NCIS Director Jenny Shepard (Lauren Holly).
Swimming with: James Wood's legal drama "Shark" failed to make the cut when the networks announced their renewals last week. It wraps up at 10.
In answer to numerous calls and e-mails from readers, here's a wrap-up of other canceled series: "Aliens in America," "Back to You," "Big Shots," "Bionic Woman," "Journeyman," "Cane," "Canterbury's Law," "Carpoolers," "Cavemen," "Cashmere Mafia," "Jericho," "K-ville," "Men in Trees," "Las Vegas," "Miss Guided," "Moonlight," "October Road," "Notes From the Underbelly," "New Amsterdam," "Oprah's Big Give," "Power of 10," "The Women's Murder Club" "Girlfriends," "Welcome to the Captain" and "The Return of Jezebel James."
The biggest bomb this season: CBS' "Secret Talents of the Stars" was canceled after one episode.
CRYSTAL SKULLS: Both History and the Sci Fi have "documentaries" that tie into "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which opens in theaters this week.
"The Mystery of the Crystal Skulls" at 8 tonight on Sci Fi is narrated by NBC anchor Lester Holt (NBC Universal owns Sci-Fi). It explores various legends about 13 ancient Mayan crystal skulls that may not really exist.
Apparently there are hundreds of crystal skulls that are fakes, mostly from the 19th century, when unscrupulous antiquities dealers were looking to make a quick buck.
But if any of them were authentic, they could have special powers. They might have come from the lost city of Atlantis or outer space. Or they could be part of a doomsday prophecy. And if you believe any of this, you might have to have your own skull examined.
At 8 p.m. Sunday, History offers "Indiana Jones and the Ultimate Quest," which compares the fictional quests in the four Indiana Jones films with real archeological research. The fictional Jones found the Hebrew's Ark with the Ten Commandments, the Holy Grail from Christ's last supper and sacred stones from a small village in India.
