TAMPA - Big & Rich was all about comin' to this city.
The award-winning country duo filmed a mock concert performance of its song "Comin' to Your City" for ESPN on Tuesday on the University of South Florida campus.
"Big Kenny" Alphin donned a top hat while John Rich sported a black velvet blazer when they took to the stage and lip-synced the song in front of an audience of nearly 100 people. The concertgoers were dressed in an array of school colors and holding team flags and posters.
The outdoor concert footage will be used throughout the college football season to introduce ESPN's "College GameDay," a pregame show broadcast from the campus hosting the biggest game of the week.
Tampa resident Raul Ramos attended the free event with his wife, Tammy, and daughter, Angelique, after hearing about it on the radio Tuesday morning. The family wore matching camouflage T-shirts to better spot themselves on TV if they made it on camera.
"We had to come," said Ramos, a truck driver. "I love country music, and Big & Rich are one of my favorite groups."
This will be the fourth year ESPN's "College GameDay" has used the Big & Rich song as its intro.
