NEW PORT RICHEY - Forty-six teams raised $150,000 for cancer research and local patient services by walking a combined 150,000 miles overnight.
Relay For Life New Port Richey attracted 428 volunteers to traverse the track at Gulf High School, and more than 100 survivors joined in for the ceremonial opening lap.
The teams were composed of families, friends, co-workers, civic club members and other groups.
Jamie Mick and Tina Shelton were co-chairpersons for the event on May 9 and 10.
They were assisted by Relay For Life committee members Kelly Armstrong, Beth Bray, Marianne Brawer, Wendy Brenner, Risa Bright, Cindy Buckley, Jared Conaway, Angel Cook, Colette Hill, Lynn Landseadel, Jamie McCollough, Justin O'Keeffe, Shannon O'Toole, Carol Romanowski and Cheryl Talmadge.
The relay's corporate sponsors were Women to Women P.A.; Rotary Club of Keystone Sunrise; InHome Medical & Mobility Inc.; ADT Security - Julio Hurtado; Hyundai of New Port Richey; Rotary Club of Holiday; Masonry Builders Inc.; Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union; AT&T Yellow Pages; and HCA hospitals.
