TAMPA – Firefighters credit a properly installed fire alarm and sprinkler system with saving a company from a huge blaze.
Tampa Fire Rescue workers responded to a report of smoke coming from the Aramark Uniforms warehouse at 2817 N. 35th St. in East Tampa shortly before 1:30 a.m. today. Firefighters broke into the locked building and found the sprinkler system holding in check a fire that was burning among linens and mops, Capt. Bill Wade said.
Firefighters put out the flames. No injuries were reported.
The Tampa Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire, which did about $20,000 damage, but most of the building and its contents were saved, Wade said.
