E-Mail Confirms Request For Sperm, Sheen Says

Published: May 23, 2008

Charlie Sheen shot back Wednesday in the great Spermgate debate.

Sheen's ex, Denise Richards, denied on "Larry King" Tuesday that she'd asked Sheen, father of her two children, for a sperm donation after their breakup. Wednesday, Sheen countered by distributing a copy of an e-mail he said Richards sent to his fiancee, Brooke Mueller, on the subject in April 2007.

"I will no longer sit back and be egregiously painted as a liar," Sheen said.

The e-mail, Sheen claims, reads: "Dear Brooke, I don't want to have a baby with Charlie. I am having a baby in the next year. By myself ... my girlfriend suggested Charlie be the donor. So, I did bring this up to him. There are so many couples having unhealthy children. Charlie and I have very beautiful healthy children together. I was strictly looking for a sperm donor, if it's any of your business."

After Richards told Matt Lauer on "Today" Wednesday that the e-mail was a fake, Sheen challenged: "If any proof can be established that these are not in fact her words and statements verbatim, I openly invite her and would even encourage Ms. Richards to sue me in a court of law."

'Idol' Finale Ratings Top Last Year's

The final face-off between David Cook and David Archuleta on Wednesday night's "American Idol" finale drew a whopping audience of 31.7 million, according to Nielsen Media Research. That's a million more than last year's finals. It means the finale was this season's second-best turnout for the show, trailing only the Jan. 15 premiere, which was watched by 33.6 million people. But, notes USAToday.com, the seventh season had overall declines of 8 percent for the series.

The singer, whose CD "Here I Stand" comes out Tuesday, says being a father is a beautiful adventure. "I just want him to grow up to be as wise, as smart as he possibly can be, be kind, openhearted," he said of his 6-month-old baby, Usher Raymond V.
