1978: Appointed to the Air Force Academy

1982: Earned a bachelor of science degree in operations research and entered the Air Force as a second lieutenant

1984: Promoted to first lieutenant

1985: Distinguished graduate, Squadron Officer School, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

1986: Promoted to captain and received a master of business administration degree from Georgia College

1989: Deputy director, Laboratory Division; director, Intramural Division; and director, Instruction Division, Athletic Department, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.

1993: Promoted to major

1997: Promoted to lieutenant colonel; appointed commander, 905th Air Refueling Squadron, and deputy commander, 319th Operations Group, Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D.; named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Americans, U.S. Junior Chamber of Commerce

1999: Appointed politico-military planner, Conventional Arms Control Division, Directorate of Strategic Plans and Policy (J5), Joint Staff, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

2000: Promoted to colonel

2001: Appointed commander, 19th Air Refueling Group, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

2003: Appointed commander, 375th Airlift Wing, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

2005: Appointed commandant, Squadron Officer College, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

2007: Promoted to brigadier general; working as deputy director of Strategic Plans, Requirements and Programs, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.
